September 6
9:00. Continuing Education: (CGC practice) attention, heel, stay, recall

10:30. Start 7 week “Basic” class. This class runs Saturdays at 10:30 until or except November 1. We might postpone for serious rain, so don’t hold me to the exact days of the calendar! Do get your phone call and registration paperwork turned in early. Don’t wait until school starts!

12:00 September 6. Family Dog Club Open House!
-----------------------
9:00 September 13 class may include CGC Test(s). These will be by appointment only, so please plan ahead and phone me in plenty of time.
-----------------------
9:00 Continuing Education plans include a 4 week “Beginning Rally” starting 20 September, with Advanced Rally team runs slightly later, maybe 10:00..

There is a “Weight Pull Workshop” coming up, so stay tuned! Keep working on good manners in the meantime.
------------------------
So what are these 9:00 and 10:30 obedience classes?

“Basic” is the first “how to” class touching on manners and problems and presenting the tools to work toward the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Certification. This is the sit - walk politely - come when called sort of class that will help you strengthen your relationship with your dog. It starts with Dog learning to pay attention and leave something alone when told. It has fun tricks and games besides the sit and lie down and go for a walk. Not all is fun and easy, you have to practice, but it is the basis of all we do with our dogs. Remember, basic manners might make us more welcome when we get to go out… and it’s more fun to walk with than to get pulled around by Dog.
Then some practice gets us ready for that Canine Good Citizen test. Have you and your dog done yours lately? Pick up a flyer or go to the AKC web site.
“Continuing Education” at 9:00 on Saturdays is skills for people who are already through Basic Obedience. Rally Obedience is a new competition where a team of dog and person follow signs around a course that is different at each trial. It is meant to be a fun way to practice between that CGC and the Novice Obedience Title, the Companion Dog or CD. Even if you never want to compete, this 9:00 class is a way to get out with your dog and practice good manners around other dogs and people. If you’re competitive, it’s a practice arena. We tailor this class to the people attending..
The 7 week class is $80, the 4 week class is $50, and a single of the Continuing Education classes is $15 by arrangement. All are Pre Register, Please.
Call Leslie at (757) 657-9067 for information. Pick up a card so you remember that number, and pick up a CGC flyer, too!
